Curiosity is the key

My spontaneous desire to write about my opinion on importance of trying new things and approaches instead of being lazy

I mean, it’s so cool to just learn new approaches of things you already know how to do, and to dive in completely new stuff when the need arise.

Just even with this site as an example. Yesterday I wanted to translate essentials of this site to my native language. I figured that the most convenient way to do so is to use the TranslatePress WP plugin. But here the problem arose: I have just one font for both Russian and English languages. And my lovely VT323 that, I really do believe, makes a huge chunk of the site’s aesthetics. “Sooo what my options were..” – I thought. And I simply tried to edit the font file to include symbols from another pixelated font that had Russian symbols!

Like, this was the first time I EVER edited a font. There were a lot of buttons in the FontForge program I used, lots of options. But it took only half of an hour to finally have a tweaked version of VT323. Isn’t that neat? ๐Ÿ‘พ

And the same applies to my professional endeavors of making games. Yes, my main focus is programming, but omg how fun making and processing sounds in Audacity turned out to be! And trying to create some consistent new design? I love those things!

I am trying not to be closed to options I already have. As there can be many MANY more. So, I want a site – I learn both server and site sides to make one. I want to cook something sweat as a tasty gift for my friend – I look for a recipe or even combine multiple recipes to create my unique one. I am interested in desktop Linux – I dive in all of it and use the system for more than half of a year now ๐Ÿ‘ป

Soooo yeah. World is too big to be closed in with what you are comfortable with, to do stuff just the way you already learned. As there are many other ways you maybe isn’t just familiar with.
